Clay Collage
March 23rd, 2006
I’m giving this to the Woog as one of her gifts this year and I’m replacing the “you’re invited” with “I love you” all in clay. For now on I think I’m sticking with all clay type. Not 100% satisfied with part clay and part computer.

Clay Finals
March 22nd, 2006
Here are the final illustrations I was working on before. Can you believe they’re going to be printed even smaller than this? They’re for postage stamps. My goal for getting more clay work this year is paying off. I have a few projects going on now that’s in my dimensional style. I say bring it on!

New clay pieces
March 14th, 2006
Working on 4 new clay pieces for a client. Hope to start painting them tomorrow. Today, is skech day. Can I get sketches done for 4 different projects? Well see (at least they aren’t all due this week)!
*If you are looking through my archives, you’ll notice some earlier post are missing images. I deleted them from my other server since a lot (I mean A LOT!) of people are linking to them a pulling them within their pages so it’s eating all my bandwidth. Goodness, thousands of image hits from myspace this month already! I’ll try and relink them when I find some time.

Insect
March 7th, 2006
While searching for another old disk I found more old projects. These use different illustration techniques and I think both are appropriate for Illustration Friday’s theme “insect.” Both are things I designed a while back.
This was for a magazine insert. I used paper sculpture and mixed media. See the detail of my tiny little ladybug? This was done with painted paper and wire for the antennas. The words “LifeWaystores.com” was also cut paper. The “dirt” is actually crushed up oreo cookies which photographed perfectly and gave me the rich color of gardening soil. Everything was made and placed onto the “dirt” background and then photographed. in case you are wondering, the little plant spikes are bookmarks and the seed packet is a coupon. It’s probably one of my favorite pieces and Ray, if you’re reading this, it is still portfolio worthy
This one was a CD cover I designed that had these fancy fold-outs and booklet. I love this piece! You can see the butterfly on the cover and there is also one on the inside that you can barely see. The entire piece was done in collage illustration with the photographs and text placed in digitally after each collage was shot.

Smoky Mountains
March 7th, 2006
I’m back from a 4 day mini vacation at the Smoky Mountains. We had a great view from our Chalet and I must admit I did no work or sketch while I was gone (big deal for me). I did check my email but only opened emails from my agent and I’m glad I did because I got a small job that is due this week. Now, onto the mound of projects on the schedule this week…
